At 10, I had a meeting with the adult education office at the Gemeente (city) to find out about Dutch language courses for me. Miles stayed home watching videos with Jim checking on him because I did not want to take Miles out in this weather. The woman was nice and spoke English quite well. There were a few options: Volksuniversitat (community college) and Mondriaan seemed to be the best choices for night classes. Neither option starts until Jan or Feb. The city subsidizes the classes at Mondriaan, so you have to be invited to attend classes there. Although she took my application, she will need my residence permit and sofie number (SS#) to continue my registration. All that is still in progress, so we'll see what happens. I may just need to get serious about my self-study program so I can support Eliot in his Dutch learning. On the way home, I biked by the cheese store to top off our supply. I got good news: they have small rounds of our favorite cheese (versus bringing home a 40-lb block!).
Miles was tired and I decided to take him with me to go pick up Eliot at school. I figured he would fall asleep in route. It was still raining, so we geared up and headed to the bus station. The bus was very crowded. Miles fell asleep in the ergo carrier on my walk to the school. I am not sure how he stayed asleep with the cold rain blowing onto this face, but he did. Eliot had made a picture of Zwarte Piet in school plus another wood project. His Piet had curly black hair and green clothes. Jim and I were supposed to come back to the school for our parent-teacher conference at 3:15. Lucien offered to move it to next week. "This is no weather for a third trip to the school." I agreed so we rescheduled for the third time to next Wed.
Sinterklaasjournaal
The Computerpiet was busy putting all of the verlanglijstjes (wish lists) into the new computer. Sinterklaas came to ask the Pieten where his book has gone.

Eliot and Miles moved from Boulder, CO to Delft, The Netherlands for the summer. Traveling from this old village, where will their adventures take the boys with their mommy (and daddy) for a guide?
