Eliot's Travels

Monday was a teacher conference day for all the Freinetschool teachers in Delft, so there was no school. It was raining and the class was moved to a different building this week that was not very accessible by public transport, so I decided to skip class this week. Eliot wasn't too interested in going to gym class. We just played in the morning and didn't get dressed until noon. Jim came up for lunch and I ran an errand over at the Hoven Passage (a small mall) on my bike. I bought a package, but then realized that I was on my bike and I would have to get it home. It was huge (30x18x4), but I was able to attach it to Eliot's bike seat by bungy cord and make it safely home.

Sinterklaasjournaal
The anchor thanked Sinterklaas for her chocolade letter D. She said they got letters, phone calls, and emails worrying about Sinterklaas' book. One woman was busy planting pepernoten (a type of cookie) in a field (not sure I got this story). The big news today was that a man found the book and sent it to Sinterklaas. The carrier delivered it to the grote Piet huis and said the package was for Sinterklaas. The Piet who signed for it (first drawing a picture of himself and then tracing his hand), said that cadeautjes zijn van Sinterklaas voor de kinderen (the gifts are from Sinterklaas given to the children). The messenger said nee, nee this is FOR Sinterklaas; it's his big red book. The Piet went in and said told the others that this book is from Sinterklaas for a present. Luckily, another helper asked him what the messenger said and he stopped the others from wrapping the gift. The Piet opened it and found the big red book. When he opened the book, all of the pages had turned to the colors of the rainbow and all of the writing was gone ...
