Happy Turkey Day

Oh yeah, it's Thanksgiving. You would never know that here. I did see a Yahoo news headline yesterday that said "36 million people were expected to travel today." I had think about why. Although it's my favorite holiday (I love pulling together the big meal and all the family traditions), it just isn't going to happen here. A 4.5-kilo (10 lb) special-order turkey was 30 euro ($40). As Eliot put it, we are "celebrating Sinterklaas for Thanksgiving this year." There's just too much going on. I have been trying to make a pumpkin pie since yesterday.

After Eliot finished his late afternoon nap, we decided to go out for dinner to celebrate Thanksgiving. We went to one of the Argentinian restaurants I've been wanting to try. Steak is normal for Thanksgiving, right? It was a nice filling meal. When we got home, we talked with Jim's parents and his brother's family via skype and webcam to wish them a Happy Thanksgiving. Then it was off to bed. Jim did a little more work first. He is too busy to take the holiday off.
