The weather was forecast to be gorgeous and it delivered. Today was a special day at school - Sportsdag. They had sport events planned for the morning in the gym for the 4 youngest grades. Eliot was quite excited about it.
The other Freinetschool locations also had Sportdag but theirs was held at a sports field, actually not far from our school. I'm not sure why our location didn't participate, but I would imagine it is the distance (it would be a 15-minute walk) and/or the lack of parent volunteers to pull it off. It

was interesting, because I noticed a lot of white families (usually there aren't many) on the bike path leading to our school; I saw some of the same folks heading home on my way to pick up Eliot. When I saw Deborah, Astrid, and Timo, it confirmed that they were Freinetschoolers coming back from Sportsdag.
When I picked Eliot up, Lucien said that Eliot was very tired. I asked if he was tired the whole time. Lucien said that "Eliot ran a lot and that he smiled the whole time." I was glad to hear Eliot had such a good

time. I only learned a few things about sportsdag but he definitely enjoyed it: they threw a stuffed Piglet (with a shirt on) up into the air and they had Rocket ijs (popscicles). The
boys played on the monkey bars outside school for awhile before we went home for lunch. Warmed up after sports day,
Eliot takes a big leap off the higher bar.
