


You definitely get a different perspective from the canal. The water level is about 4-5 below the street level. I found that I really noticed the details: facades, gables, trim, shutters. When checking the same views from the street, it is hard to see through the trees to see the whole building and its details. From the canal, I saw beautiful historic buildings above where I shopped at a pretty nondescript ground floor shops. From the street level, you pretty much look straight ahead, but in the boat you have to look up. That's where the surprises are!
