Our first guests have come! John and Mary arrived in Delft in the early evening after our day at the beach. The boys were so excited. Eliot kept asking me over the last few days "What time will grandma and grandpa be at our apartment in Delft?" I asked Miles who is coming on Sunday: "bampa." Mary and I realized that they are the first familiar people the boys have seen in 2 months. That's a long time. It is nice to see familiar faces live rather than in the webcam (especially when the software is acting up and everything is purple and green like it does sometimes). After they got a grand tour of the apartment and a little play time with the boys, we went for a walk to help fight the jetlag. We had a nice dinner at the Boterhuis (butter house) on a floating barge overlooking the canal and people above on the street. After dinner, we took a stroll by Oude Kerk. The light was perfect for the weather vane on top of the water board building.
