When we arrived back in Holland last night, the weather was gorgeous. Mild temperatures, clear skies. We woke this morning (at 9:30) to pouring rain. We must have brought it with us from Paris. The weather forecast called for 0.5-inches of rain. We got at least that. The boys and I worked on a drawing of Paris and played ball-toss. Funny enough, the window washer was back. We saw him in his raincoat in the pouring rain move from window to window on his scissors lift, soaping and wiping the window. Before he finished a stroke, the window was washed in rain again. We waved and he gave us the "I know this is crazy" look.

When we saw a break in the weather after lunch, we headed out to the markets. We had no food after our short jaunt to France. We went to the bakery, grocery store, and the cheese store - pretty much our normal Monday routine really. At the produce market, I requested most items in Dutch and Eliot even asked for "ayn komkommer" (1 cucumber) and "drie (3) green apples." After getting our veggies and fruits, we headed off for home. The sky started looking pretty dark. We made it to Poppesteeg - the pedestrian path next to our building - when the rain started. We hurried and made it into the building just as the sky let loose. It rained the rest of the afternoon.

[Note the date: I am going back to real-time (mostly) blogging and will catch up on John and Mary's trip as I have time. Otherwise, you may never know what we are really up to.]
