We walked along the Quai des Orfevres along the Seine and passed by the gothic cathedral Sainte-Chapelle and the Palais de Justice. There was a long line to get into the church, so we continued toward Notre-Dame. The boys enjoyed the running through a square in front of the Justice buildings along the way. We arrvied in the square on the West side of the church. The area was hopping with people taking pictures and standing in line to get into the church. There were the "bird people" trying to get the city birds to visit them; the hedge was fluttering with birds. This just seems like a bad idea with the possibility of bird flu. I liked the statue of Charlemagne on his horse; King of the Franks in late 8th century. Miles was the first to discover the puddles from the downfall though Eliot soon joined in the "fun."

Cathredrale Notre-Dame is beautiful - grand and majestic. It was started in 1163 and took 2 centuries to complete. The King's gallery shows the rich sculptures on the outside of the church. The Galerie de Chimieres - gargoyles - was added in the 19th century.
