The visitor's water mill is open to the public for climbing around. All the mills were homes. It was interesting seeing the quarters where the miller and his family would live. Quite small really as you would expect for a windmill - living room with 2 box beds, a kitchen, a corridor, and a cellar.
A model windmill showed the parts of a water mill including the pump.
The volunteer miller gave us a brief tour of the upper floor of the mill. He explained that the
cap (top portion of the windmill with the sails attached outside) can turn on rollers to best capture the wind as it shifts.

The mill can be stopped from the ground with the
braking mechanism. The chain tightens
this band around the wheel in the cap to stop the mill.
