We had a plan for cooking dinner, but the grocery store conveniently closed at 4pm on Saturday. So we went back to our pancake/pizza restaurant; the nicer restaurant was full. After dinner and a chance to play in the balls at the inside playground in the main building, we went home to our villa.

Landal has a bear mascot named Bollo. Our waitress said to Eliot, "If you eat your whole dinner, then you get a surprise." His eyes got wide. Eliot ate his whole pancake by himself on Sunday night; she gave him 2 plates. She was a bit of a pushover (but very nice) and we went home with 2 Bollo, 2 Lava Lamos, and 1 Professor Pieter Ploff plate.

One other thing happened with this waitress that I should mention regarding cultural differences. I had read in the Lonely Planet guide that one of the Don't's in Holland is that you Don't ask for a doggie bag. When we finished that first night, John had half a pizza remaining, so he decided to chance the response. When he asked for a box to go, she said "that's not the point of this restaurant." A strange response, for sure. She did offer that when we left she could take it and put it in a pizza box for him (they did do take out pizza) and he could pick up the box at the cook desk; that would be ok.
