Landgoed 't Loo
When trying to decide on a vacation trip with John and Mary, our friend Gina suggested we take a typical Dutch vacation - to a bungalow park. Landal Greenparks runs these bungalow parks throughout Holland. It looked like fun, so I booked one for a weekend rental (Friday night through Sunday night).

We arrived at Landal Landged 't Loo on Friday evening after our visit to Hoge Veluwe. After checking in, we went to our villa - number 362 - and moved our things in. Inside waiting for us was a starter grocery bag I purchased with our reservation. It contained beer, salami, eggs, coffee, bread, cheese, wine - all the essentials for starting a vacation - Dutch style. They had upgraded us to a 8-person comfort villa (from a 6-person), so we had plenty of beds. Each bungalow is furnished with a kitchen, dining area, living room, and a porch with table, chairs and umbrella. They don't provide towels, so luckily I had thrown a couple in at the last minute.

Landal offers midweek, weekend or week rentals. Therefore, everyone arrives on a Monday or a Friday. It's nice because after check-in times, there are very few cars driving within the park. 't Loo is a small (very small) town about 12 km west of Zwolle in Gelderland province. The Landal park is on the edge of the village. It was pretty clear after walking around after dinner that this is a place you come to hang out with family and just relax - like a resort. We saw lots of generations amongst the guests, including lots of grandparents and grandkids. Landgoed 't Loo has 365 villas and they were full.

The park has everything one needs: a grocery store, restaurants, gift shop, bar, ice cream/snack bar, bike rental, and boat rental. As far as activities, there was a recreation lake, swimming pool, tennis courts, game room, mini golf, bowling alley, and playground equipment.

After getting settled, we went to the pannekoeken restaurant to eat dinner. This also happened to be the pizza parlor, so everyone got what they wanted! Eliot rode his bicycle up to the central area; Miles enjoyed his stoller ride. On the way home Miles pushed Eliot on his bike and got a taste of riding on the back of the stroller - where Eliot usually stands. Not a lesson I wanted him to learn yet!
