Witte Fietsen - the way to get around Hoge Veluwe is by bike. The NP has over 1700 white bikes (witte fietsen) that visitors can use for free on 40 km of bike paths. They even come equiped with kid seats. So, we each picked out our bike and headed out into the park. We followed the bike route 1 that took us 10 km through the forest, sand dunes, and heath. We stopped to check out the hunting lodge and the art museum. The park supposedly has lots of wildlife - red deer, moufflons, wild boar, badgers - though we didn't see any. It was quite hot that day (are you picking up a trend?).
