We decided to follow the Kalenbergroute, so we could visit a small village, Kalenberg, about halfway along the 8-km route. This canoe trip was Eliot's favorite of all the things we did with Grandma and Grandpa. He really enjoyed canoeing, paddling, making zigzags in the water, pulling the paddle through the water, and watching for birds. He wanted to make sure we did not go over any lily pads, so we wouldn't harm their roots.

Everyone has to pull their weight in this canoe!
Eliot and Miles help paddle along the peaceful canals. After paddling a bit, he realized that it was hard work. Eliot did really well overall. Stroke! Miles and Eliot alternated paddling (we only grabbed one extra paddle!)
Miles takes his turn. Eliot lily dipping and dragging his paddle - some kind of help is the kind of help we can all do without. Though the dragging was better than when he paddled backwards!
