Cafe Views at the Vrijthof - We enjoyed a nice sandwich and soup at the Grand Cafe on the edge of the Vrijthof square. From our seat you could see across the square: Sint Janskerk (17th century), Sint Servaasbasiliek (6th - 15th centuries), Military Guard House (1773). Sadly, the entire square itself is asphalt (underneath is a parking garage). We spoke with the couple next to us as we were leaving.
"We are heading to Valkenburg now by train" I said.
"You'll never get there; a half million people are coming to Valkenburg today. You know the tour is going there." He said
"Oh yes, that's why we're going!"
