Friday night was the monthly dinner for the International Women's group in Delft. This is a group of English- speaking women from the US, England, and other countries who want to keep their language skills fresh; the playgroup is a subset of this group. We met at Barcelos Tapas and had a nice dinner with drinks. It was a treat to meet other women and get a break for a little while. It was also my first opportunity to ride my bike. I can't express how fun it was to just pop on my bike and cruise through the paved streets to the restaurant. Up to now, I have been walking everywhere with a stroller and two boys. I just enjoyed being out with only a purse!! It was a 3-minute bike ride to the other side of new church. Along the way I saw two people dressed as a skirted table carrying a wedding cake (more on this in a minute). Coming home at 10:30 was great too - I just flipped the generator on and had lights. Great fun!

Jim took the boys out to eat at another pancake house. I waved to them when I biked by. This time they sat on the water in a floating barge similar to the Griek restaurant one in the picture. There are several Greek restaurants in Delft.

This weekend is the Theaterfestival Mooi Weer Spelen - a performing arts/street performance festival around Delft. Jim and the boys joined Paul-Henri Jeannel in his hat-making lesson. As part of the festival, he teaches a crowd of 30-40 how to make his crazy paper hats, starting with a square of brown paper. Jim made Eliot "Dr. Suess Grinch hat. It was supposed to be a tall mountain but Daddy curved it!"
