Eliot's Travels

We went back to the hotel. Mom felt pretty terrible all day - achy and feverish. We had a glass of wine in the bar and the boys colored and played cars. I went back to the room to change Miles' diaper and noticed that it was cold in our room. I checked the radiators and they were cold. On our way back to the bar, I told the front desk. She took her pliers to the room and tried to get the radiator working to no avail.

The receptionist checked with the manager, the heat was out in the hotel. The lounge and bar had a gas fireplace, so we decided we'd just hang out awhile. A couple that was in the lounge earlier returned and told us there was no hot water either (part of the heating system that broke down). Mom was sick and just wanted a hot bath, and I just wanted to be warm. We knew that we were in trouble, when the chef in full chef gear (tall hat and apron) was looking in the utility closet with two other hotel staff for the problem. I sure wish I had that photo! After sitting for an hour or so, we headed for bed and quickly got under the covers and fell asleep. Hopefully, the heat would be on in the morning!!
