Yesterday was a school day for Eliot. This week, he will be going Monday through Wednesday. On Thursday, we'll head out on a short family vacation to Belgium.

Tuesday was wet out but not raining when we were ready to leave the apartment for school. I put the boys in their rain jackets and brought their rain pants. We got downstairs and Jim helped me load up because we were running late. When we walked out of the parking garage, I realized that I had left Eliot's backpack and snack upstairs. Jim held the bike while I ran upstairs. In the meantime, it started to rain, so Jim took each boy off the bike and put on his rain pants. When I returned, we walked up the ramp and it started raining even harder. Since I don't have a windshield on my bike (because of my basket) and it was raining pretty hard, we took Miles off the bike and sent him back inside with Jim. By the time Eliot and I got to the end of the street, it had stopped raining. It didn't rain anymore during my ride. This might be our scenario the rest of the fall and winter. We will see!

Given all of our loading, redressing, and unloading, we were late to class, but it was fine. Eliot had a good time at school; today he used special Legos to make a metro run and made some nice pastel drawings. One picture was of our bedroom for the school classroom and another picture for daddy's office.

When we got home, I took off Eliot's shoes and noticed that his socks were inside out. I asked him about it and he said "the kid who helped me put on my socks didn't know they were inside out." Because of the rain, they had gone upstairs (shoeless) to their cool jungle gym during recess today.

After dinner, Jim headed out to ultimate frisbee. He's found a university group that plays pick-up on Tuesday nights. Jim has enjoyed the exercise and the social interactions. You can't beat having a bar on the fields for hanging out afterwards! Ultimate is not very big in Holland (about 400 players, probably smaller than the number of players in Boulder), so it's cool that he has found a group playing here in Delft.

While Jim was out, Eliot got the suitcases down for our trip. He was so excited that he wanted to pack right then. We picked out a few things and then went to bed.
