Miles is 2!! And we're having a Birthday Party!

We invited Timo, Astrid, Martijn and Merrick over for an afternoon party to celebrate Miles' 2nd birthday. It is hard to believe that he is already two. We had a busy morning wrapping surprises for the games, picking up the cakes, cleaning the house, and decorating the room. Everyone arrived at 3:30 for the festivities.

The kids enjoyed playing a few games. The boys helped me color the elephant for "Pin the Trunk on the Elephant." Martijn impressed us all by landing right on the "nose" while blindfolded. Timo gave us a chuckle when he started about 5 ft off the paper, creatively feeling the wall for the beginning of the elephant. I guess his three spins blindfolded really turned him around! Miles was the best: not even blindfolded, he chose to put his trunk the furthest out. He seemed to think that was the best spot for it!

We also played a "Pass the Package" game, where each person passes a package around the circle to music. When the music stops, the person holding the package gets to unwrap a layer (and get a little surprise, like stickers). You do this until you get to the inside prize. The kids were much too quick to figure it out and kept looking at me (the music man) to stop the music for their turn unwrapping. Luckily (I did close my eyes once everyone had a turn), Merrick won the final time and shared the six fancy scissor set with all the kids. It worked out perfectly!

Eliot picked out a fast train for Miles. He thought it would remind them of the "high-speed train to Germany that we saw in Amsterdam Centraal Station." Miles had plenty of help unwrapping his gifts from everyone.
