We enjoyed a fine lunch at Leonidas (our favorite lunch spot now). As with most restaurants, it took quite awhile to get our food. This time it was great, because we were right along the parade route for the Taptoe Delft Street Parade. Every 4 minutes, one of 30 bands came marching by the restaurant. The boys would jump out of their seats and run out the door to see each band as they passed, when they heard them coming down the street. I don't think Eliot has eaten so well (having to take a bit before going to see the marchers). Miles really like the spinach-basil soup, taking sips between bands. It was fun seeing all the different kinds of uniforms worn by the bands. Julie and I both thought it was interesting that the band members were mostly adults but of all different ages. Very different from the US where it would be a high school band or a drum corps college-age group. Miles loved the bands, even though they were quite loud as you would expect. Eliot's comments on the bands: "fast helicopter drums" for the snare drums and "those trumpets just give a loud blast when they go by."
