Julie and the boys stayed home to rest while I walked around and saw a few more open monuments. I must say it was strange to be out and about with a stoller and no children. It was the first time I've been without them in my responsibility (besides the movie Jim and I went to in July). The gang joined me over at the Saturday market on Burgwal. We saw a beautiful flower "shop" and Julie picked up some bulbs to take home for fall planting. Then we hung out at the Beestenmarkt and had ourselves a slice of apple pie with slagroom (yummy whipped cream) at Kobus Kuch. I've been told this is a very typical Dutch activity - drinking coffee and eating apple pie at Kobus Kuch. Surprisingly, this is the first time I have partaken in the great tradition. The weather was perfect - 75 deg and sunny. We headed home for dinner and then packing - Aunt Julie was to leave early tomorrow.
