Saturday was an open house day in Deborah's neighborhood. Deborah and Laurens invited us over for a nice french-toast breakfast. The kids all enjoyed playing, then we headed out to the activities. There was a flea market and several Kinderattracties - popcorn, spin the wheel for a prize, dance troups, and a bouncy castle. Astrid and Eliot enjoyed sliding down the blow-up ladder truck slide. This scuba diving man got a lot of looks, including Eliot's.

The police station was open to the public allowing everyone to get a close look at police cars, mopeds, and bikes. The Politie were giving away free stuff like visors, flags, police huppies, and stickers. We got to see inside a police tank (kind of crazy) and to see the gear in a trunk of a police car. There were bike police demonstrations, videos on keeping a watch out for pickpockets, and fingerprinting for kids. I liked this picture of the police officers posing for a photo.

The headquarters also had several fire trucks out for everyone to see. Deborah and Timo stand by the diving rescue truck, which I suppose is a necessity here in the mucky canals. We got a closeup view of the "jaws of life" at one fire truck. Impressive tools. They had a huge ladder truck with its ladder fully extended outside the yard.
