Politie Demonstration

The open house at the Police headquarters included a demonstation of the emergency crew response to a serious car accident. It was quite interesting. The police were the first to arrive with sirens blaring. They first checked on the accident "victims" and then a second police offier went to investigate the "suspect" in a second car. The ambulance was supposed to arrive next but it was called out to a real emergency, so the paramedic arrived on foot (in the blue and yellow coat). While the medical personal attended the injured, the police ask the "suspect" to get out of the car and take a breathalizer test, as they suspected he had been drinking. All of the sudden, he makes a dash for it and the police tackle him, put the suspect in handcuffs and walk him to the police car. I had wondered why he was dressed in prison stripes! The police moved the suspect's car out of the way. The victims were trapped in the car, so when the two fire trucks arrive, the jaws of life were prepared for action. The fire fighters get to work quickly securing the car and then removing the car door. We left about 20-30 minutes into the demonstration. Eventually, the entire top of the car was removed. Eliot and I saw the car being put in a dumpster when we returned for some police flags.
