Heading back to Maastricht for our trek home, we decided to travel the route the Tour took the day before. At Wittem, we left the highway to follow the country roads of Stage 3 past the finish line. It was a pretty drive with rolling hills, farm fields, and even castles. It was fun seeing the street graffiti too! At the finish line, they were still taking down the grandstands and barriers along the route. You could see the remnants of what must have been the field where the team trailers were parked. Debris was everywhere - lots and lots of water bottles!
Street signs between Wittem and Eys and a windshield wiper!
Flats just outside of Eys
Castle on outskirts of Valkenburg
Street graffiti very near the finish line at Berg
