Eliot and I were excited to have ridden the train from Valkenburg that stopped at the end of the tracks before this buffer. There was a second train at another buffer one platform over. On the train, a few very-nice tour spectators gave us some thunder sticks (blow up tubes) and a cardboard squirrel poster. We walked back to the hotel room and had a drink with snacks at the cafe at our hotel. It had been so hot at the tour that day, so we all took cold showers to cool off our bodies. We ventured out for dinner. The kids were exhausted and we couldn't find a satsfactory restaurant close by, so we went back to our hotel's cafe and ate dinner, while Miles slept in the chairs.

It was time for the semi-final world cup game, so up we went to watch a little soccer. Everyone fell asleep during the game, except for me. I watched the end and listened to the fans chanting I-tal-i-a down the street and horns honking when Italy beat Germany. The revelry went on for 30 minutes. I think I fell asleep at 1 am. It was quite a memorable fourth of July though not very American!
