After sightseeing, the family enjoyed a Dutch staple - frites with ketchup (not so Dutch) and garlic sauce. I wish we had a picture of us sitting on a shop stoop eating our fries. Yummy! Jim and I enjoyed the cafe scene in the warm evening sun and a nice beer before heading back home. Check out the seagull on top of the picturesque statue of Laurens Coster (who Haarlemmers believe has a claim, along with Gutenberg, to be called the inventor of movable type). The boys loved running around the statue; this was Eliot's favorite part of the day!
