Casa Batllo

I had never seen anything like this place. A thorough audio guide was included in the admission (which was astronomical at $20). The tour included the Batllo family apartment and terrace, the attic, and the flat rooftop.

The architecture and details were really cool in this building. I don't believe there was a straight line in the apartment we toured. The wood and glass barrier in the more public parts of the house was this wonderful sculpted and
wavy wood frame. The
main room windows looked out across the exterior sculptures and onto the Passeig de Gracia. Here you can see one of the tibia-like exterior pillars that give the house its nickname:
House of Bones.

The back of the apartment housed the private rooms for the Battlo family. The private dining room had
two dramatic pillars positioned in front of the doorway to the backyard patio and a roof with plaster "raindrops" hanging from the ceiling.

The
attic consisted of Gaudi's famous parabolic arches. This area was used by the residents as a washroom and storeroom and an upper level was used for water storage.
