Once we got past Unesco headquarters, we could see the top of the our destination. We passed by the Military Academy and saw the full tower for the first time. It is amazing. It took us nearly 45 minutes to get here. Directly between the Tower and the Academy was this Peace Monument, which seems kind of ironic. The pillars have peace written in several languages.
We wandered to the base of the tower through the wonderful and huge Parc du Champ de Mars. I think it took us 20 minutes to get to the base of the Tower from this end of the park. There we saw gorgeous gardens, perfect lines of beech trees, and wonderful hedge gardens. The boys were busy with their new favorite pastime - chasing pigeons into flight. We meandered along taking pictures, running in the grass, and picking up rocks (Miles that is). We really enjoyed the fountain head and garden.
