Birthday Party Preparations

Today is Eliot's birthday party. For the first time ever, no one in our family will be here for the party (or to help). Jim and I are on our own.

Eliot chose an UNDER THE SEA theme for his party - sharks, dolphins and the like. Lately, he's been into the sea, outer space, NASCAR racing, Legos, and batman (which he has never seen). Eliot and Miles picked out the balloon colors and the party favors (fish hats, animal goggles, shark pens, stamps, squishy creatures). Eliot went shopping with Aunt Julie for the plates and utensils.

Eliot and Maura made lots of sea animal flags that I turned into a banner, and Eliot colored more sea pictures to decorate the yard. This year, Eliot wanted a great white shark for his cake. At first he wanted it eating another fish, but we decided that might scare the younger kids, so we went with the coral reef at the bottom with fish and seaweed. I began the cake preparation on Friday and ended up making 3 cakes for the shark.

Megan and Debbie had lots of helpers in their task of filling water balloons for the games later.
