Trip to Breda

It was Jim's last "free" day in Holland, so we decided to take a train trip. We wanted to go to den Bosch but it was 1.5 hours away train, so we decided to check out Breda in Noord Brabant instead. It was supposed to have a beautiful church and nice old town. We arrived around lunchtime and headed toward the church. We walked through beautiful Valkenberg park. It was a nice but chilly day. We found the church which seemed to be closed until 1, so we opted for a cafe lunch first.

In Breda, we also enjoyed the lovely Merkx gardens (Willem Merkxtuin) with it's interesting trees and sculptures. As you can see it had nice views of the church tower.
